Steam Plant

The Steam Plant produces the steam that is piped around campus for heating buildings in winter, and heating the hot water in buildings year around.

The plant produces the steam by firing natural gas in water tube boilers.  Pressurized steam produced at  the plant is distributed to each building through various tunnels, trenches, and direct-bury, preinsulated conduits across campus.

Located next to the Central Dining Hall, the plant is staffed 24/7 year around to ensure that the infrastructure is continually monitored.
