Arbor Day Foundation Congratulates App State on "Tree Campus USA" Designation

The Physical Plant's Landscaping team and App State Department of Biology deserve a round of applause for achieving the coveted "Tree Campus USA" designation.  This award is granted by the National Arbor Day Foundation in recognition of meeting stringent criteria in urban forestry management.

The President of the Arbor Day Foundation sends his congratulations to the Chancellor and encourages us to "do it again" in 2015.

Appalachian State met and/or exceeded the following standards:

  • Created a Campus Tree Advisory Committee (Students, Faculty, Staff, and Landscapers)
  • Presented a Campus Tree Care Plan
  • Demonstrated a Campus Tree Program with Dedicated Annual Expenditures
  • Oberved Arbor Day
  • Created a Service Learning Project (Multiple Tree Plantings for Volunteers)
