Planning is underway to design and construct a new parking deck on the south of the Holmes Center. This deck is anticipated to provide 550 parking spaces. Investigative work needs to take place to establish the subsurface conditions and viability of the project.
Design for the demolition is complete and the actual removal of the building will commence in Summer 2016. The grounds will be grassed to provide space for future development.
This project will provide an up-fit to the currently vacant space in what was previously First Presbyterian Church. Designer selection process is underway. Qualifications submittals have been received and are currently being evaluated to select firms for interviews. The up-fit will provide much needed faculty office space and two new classrooms. Construction completion is targeted for January 2017.
Winkler Residence Hall Replacement - Advanced Planning on this project is complete, and schematic & development design continued through February 2016. Early Site Work will begin in May 2016, with the vertical building to follow in Spring 2017. The project will provide 352 student beds by Fall 2018. Jenkins Peer has been contracted to be the designer of record and Edifice Inc., was selected as the Construction Manager at Risk.
The new building planned for the College of Health Sciences is designed as a 203,000 GSF facility. Specialty simulation labs, classrooms and support space will bring the various departments within the College to a central location. With the recent passage of the NC Connect Bond, construction is anticipated to begin immediately, starting in May 2016. LS3P is the architect, and Rodgers is the Construction Manager at Risk.
This project includes the repair/replacement of steam and condensate lines along Rivers Street. Due to the vertical location of the manhole in Center Street, the road was raised by approximately four feet. Also included is a new condensate line from Garwood Hall to Harper Hall.
Drainage improvements to the existing fields is the focus of this project. Working with the Army Corps of Engineers and the Town of Boone, it is anticipated that this project will utilize spoils from the stream improvements being undertaken by the Army Corps of Engineers. Construction is underway.
This project includes energy savings improvements to multiple campus facilities, including lighting replacements, fume hood replacements, HVAC efficiencies, and a new data center for the campus. This project is underway and will continue until December 2015.
This project is currently "On Hold." Site improvements are planned for this area of campus that previously housed the Lucy Brock building site.
